Just grab your 3 to 3.5 mm needles and stick to a simple stockinette stitch. You really don't need anything fancier—the yarn practically does all the hard work for you.
To be completely honest? I once knit two beanies using the exact same ball of yarn—casting on 60 stitches for the first, and 72 for the second. They genuinely looked like they were made from two completely different yarns. So please, don't be afraid to experiment.
